Anduril Industries this week received an $8.1 million contract modification to continue fielding its Lattice open operating platform to additional space surveillance network sites as it works to complete a mesh network between space domain awareness (SDA) sensors and data platforms.
So far, Anduril has received $10.6 million for the SDA Network, an effort being managed by U.S. Space Systems Command.
A July 12 contract announcement by the Air Force says the additional work is part of the command’s Phase III Small Business Innovation Research effort to prototype “reliable, secure, redundant, and resilient mesh networking capabilities for Space Domain Awareness Space Surveillance Network Sensors.” It also says $5.2 million of the funds are being obligated immediately.
The mesh networking solution is designed to work over any internet protocol data links to provide the networking backbone to the Space Surveillance Network. Anduril is designing the solution to provide communication for distributed autonomous systems that update for efficient and effective connection quality and connectivity as needed.
Once the network is accepted by Space Systems Command, Anduril’s solution will be the primary communications backbone for the legacy systems.
