The Air Force awarded Lockheed Martin [LMT] a $152 million contract for Sniper Advanced Targeting Pod (ATP) sustainment support over a five-year period beginning this month, according to a company statement.

The contract transitions legacy Sniper pod sustainment support from Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, to Robins AFB, Ga. The contract includes engineering support, initial line replaceable unit spares, support equipment and pod containers. Specific tasks will be covered under a series of delivery orders to be awarded incrementally over the five-year period. A Lockheed Martin spokesman said yesterday the company received its first delivery order Sept. 1.

The Sniper pod provides precision targeting and non-traditional intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance information for multiple Air Force and international aircraft. A Lockheed Martin spokesman said Sniper pods are currently integrated on Air Force and international F-15, F-16, F/A-18, A-10, B-1 and F-15C aircraft and is in the final stages of flight testing on the B-52.

The F-15, F/A-18, B-1, F-15C and B-52 are developed by Boeing [BA]. The F-16 is produced by Lockheed Martin while the A-10 is developed by Elbit Systems.
