The Explosives Detection subgroup of the Technical Support Working Group (TSWG) awarded Reveal Imaging Technologies a one-year, $2.6 million contract to investigate the trade- offs between image quality of Computed Tomography X-Ray Explosive Detection Systems, false alarm rates and throughput. Evaluation methods include X-Ray scanning techniques and image resolution that is not currently available in any commercially available certified EDS, TSWG says. Reveal plans to partner with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, the Univ. of Michigan, and Xintek, Inc., to carry out the studies. The contract is funded by the Department of Homeland Security.
