The Defense Department’s Joint Non-Lethal Weapons (NLW) Directorate is seeking proposals for research, development and demonstration of next-generation non-lethal weapons and capabilities to address known NLW capability gaps through a Broad Area Announcement (BAA). General applied research focus areas include: non-lethal vessel stopping at extended range; clear a space without entry; non-lethality divert an aircraft in the air or stop and/or disable an aircraft on the ground; individual and crowd behavior in environments where less than lethal force is an option; human effects/effectiveness and safety thresholds of selected non-lethal stimuli; stimulating academic institutions, both civilian and DoD academies, in the research and development of NLW concepts; advanced materials and non-lethal payloads.
