Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. [KTOS] announced on July 11 its signal processing systems subsidiary, RT Logic, secured a government contract to help define the next generation of resilient ground architecture for Department of Defense (DoD) systems.

The Wideband Communications Architecture study contact is meant to bring DoD terminals the ability to move between satellite networks and expand satellite communications (SATCOM) capacity and resiliency. RT Logic is tasked with defining the overall ground architecture, identifying mechanisms for wideband transport with SATCOM and ground resources and determining the requirements needed to operate system control and situational awareness.

“The program draws upon Kratos’ core SATCOM and MILSATCOM capabilities that leverage our extensive portfolio of ground system products and architectural depth. The ‘roaming enterprise’ approach will increase SATCOM capacity and create a more resilient architecture to anticipate and respond to future attacks,” Kratos Senior Vice President of SATCOM Products John Monahan said in a statement.

A group of satellite operators will support Kratos and RT Logic on this contract, including Intelsat General, SES, INMARSAT, Hughes and OneWeb.
