The Department of Defense has awarded a contract to ICx Technologies [ICXT] to provide its AirSentinel ambient biological detection aerosol sensors. The value of the contract wasn’t disclosed. AirSentinel is integrated into building monitoring and control systems and is a continuous monitoring system that detects changes in concentration of ambient aerosol particles that indicate the possible present of a biological threat. The system can also collect a concentrated sample of those aerosols for subsequent identification when an aerosol event is detected. The company also has completed delivery to Thermo Fisher Scientific [TMO] of nearly 250 identiFINDER-U underwater handheld radiation detectors that are being sold to the Coast Guard. The value of this contract wasn’t disclosed. The device is water tight to depths up to 33 feet and can be used in high humidity environments. ICx has received orders for 23 more devices to be delivered by the end of this year.
