The National Geospatial Intelligence Agency has transitioned its “Map of the World” initiative to the commercial cloud environment, a move that will allow the map to be viewed throughout the entire intelligence community, contractor Lockheed Martin [LMT] said Monday.

Lockheed Martin said the NGA become the first intelligence agency to be active on Amazon Web Services’ Commercial Cloud Services, or C2S, environment.

Lockheed Martin was contracted to transition the Map of the World to C2S.

Lockheed Martin said the move “will not only cut costs and increase efficiencies for the enterprise, but will also provide the entire Intelligence Community access to the Map of the World, which is the single integrated environment where all analysts can examine data, record observations and share all known information about a threat.”
