Cross Match Technologies received a $4.4 million contract from the United Kingdom’s Home Office for 1,385 livescan Guardian L SCAN fingerprint scanning systems in support of the UKvisas visa program. The fingerprint scanners will be installed and operational by the end of 2007 in U.K. overseas missions, including embassies and consulates. Fingerprints taken as part of the visa application process are checked against U.K. government records to see if the individual is already known to the Border and Immigration Agency. Under UKvisas Britain collects 10 fingerprints and a digital photo from each visa applicant. Cross Match’s partner on the program is Steria UK.
