Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim) launched its VBS Blue IG 3D whole-earth image generator for Apache helicopter flight simulations on Nov. 27 at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) in Orlando.
VBS Blue IG is the military training and simulation software company’s new high-performance, standards-based image generator which can be integrated on any CIGI-compliant simulation host, including its own VBS3 virtual training environment.
“VBS Blue IG has raised the bar on the performance and scale of image generation. Users can expect high performance from the VBS Blue IG rendering engine, which is optimized for the latest [graphic processing units] and supports realistic view distances and real-world scene densities,” said BISim Co-CEO Pete Morrison in a statement. “High-frame rates combat simulation sickness and discomfort typically found in AR/VR applications. VBS Blue IG is already powering several VR-based air-crew training systems for the U.S. Navy and Air Force.”
Attendees at I/ITSEC could participate in a live demonstration of VBS Blue IG, including flight simulators for the Apache helicopter.
BISims’ VBS content library is compiled of more than 10,000 models allowing developers to generate high-quality 36 models for nearly all air scenarios. The company designed VBS Blue IG for ease of integration, and reduced costs for installation and configuration.
