The Army announced last week it will hold two industry days for the anticipated Ground Combat Vehicle (GCV).

“Currently, there are two planned industry days, the first being on Oct. 16, 2009 [in Dearborn, Mich.], which will review high-level requirements and acquisition strategy for the Ground Combat Vehicle,” Paul Mehney, Public Communications Director for PEO Integration, said. “The second, to be held in November, will outline detailed body of knowledge, GCV requirements and procurement schedules.”

Attending the Oct. 16 event is voluntary and is not required to submit a proposal.

The GCV is meant to fill the capability gap left after the Manned Ground Vehicle program was canceled from Future Combat Systems by Defense Secretary Gates in April.

A solicitation will not be released before the industry day nor will a draft solicitation be presented at this event, the service said.

The goal of this event is to familiarize participants with the initial GCV requirements and to promote discussion of the synergistic capabilities among potential industry partners .

“We hope to both inform industry and establish a level playing field for those interested in this development effort as well as learn a great deal about where potential partners can advance the effort,” said Col. Bryan McVeigh, project manager for Manned Systems Integration.

During the industry day, the Army will announce how it will receive feedback and respond to industry questions on GCV requirements.

Future announcements on follow up events with industry will be announced via news release and at the Federal Business Opportunities website: http://www.fbo.gov/index?s=opportunity&mode=list&tab=list&_nfound=1.
