ViaSat Inc. and DEW Engineering and & Development ULC have signed a technology and marketing alliance agreement to collaborate to bring innovative, integrated Link 16 networking to mobile and fixed shelters for joint customers in Canada.

The goal of the agreement is to expand the global Link 16 environment and provide additional information sharing to bridge gaps in situational awareness in Canada by combining ViaSat transformational Link 16 systems and DEW trailer, vehicle, and shelter systems.

Link 16 is the dominant military data link for secure, jam-resistant communications, enabling interoperable situational awareness and command and control (“C2”) information sharing between frontline air and surface platforms.

“We continue to make rapid improvements in our product line, which enable continuous advances in military communications. We look forward to working with DEW and gaining the benefits of their tactical shelters and mobile systems for our worldwide military customers,” said Paul Baca, ViaSat vice president and general manager for Tactical Data Link Systems.

“This agreement expands our capabilities into new technologies and we are pleased to be supporting ViaSat with its pursuits in Canada,” said Craig Campbell, vice president of Business Development at DEW.

DEW and ViaSat specifically intend to collaborate on technical matters to ensure seamless product integration, and on marketing and business development in international and domestic military markets
