L-1 Identity Solutions [ID] has been selected the by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) as the prime contractor to provide enrollment services to commercial drivers seeking a Hazardous Materials Endorsement (HME) on their Commercial Drivers’ License with the award estimated to be worth over $80 million over four years. The contract contains a one-year base period and three option years. L-1 first began delivering HazPrint program services to the trucking industry in Jan. 2005. L-1 operates and maintains a secure electronic fingerprint and biographical enrollment network in 37 states and the District of Columbia which have chosen to use the TSA agent–in this case L-1–to collect and submit data required for the HME. The HazPrint program vets commercial truck drivers who seek to obtain a license to transport hazardous materials to ensure they don’t pose a security risk.
