Textron, Inc. [TXT] said yesterday that its AAI business unit is separating into three businesses to improve efficiency and better support their respective customers.

AAI, which is part of Textron Systems, will have AAI Unmanned Aircraft Systems, led by Steven Reid, AAI Test & Training, led by Bob Peters, and AAI Logistics and Technical Services, led by Diane Giuliani, all reporting the Fred Strader, president and CEO of Textron Systems.

Strader said in a statement that the new operating units are also being established to account for their size and growing capabilities. All three units will continue to be based in Maryland.

Ellen Lord, who is currently senior vice president and general manager of AAI, has been named to lead Textron Defense Systems, also an operating unit of Textron Systems. Mark Catizone, who currently leads Textron Defense Systems, has taken a senior position on Textron Systems executive leadership team.
