Spectrum San Diego has introduced CarSCAN, an ultra-low-dose dual-energy X-Ray imaging system for detection of explosives, contraband and stowaways in cars and light trucks. The company says the system works with vehicles traveling at normal checkpoint speeds and can be used at border crossings and other high volume inspection points.

CarSCAN will be demonstrated next week at the Force Protection Equipment Demonstration VII exhibition in Stafford, Va. The dual-energy transmission imaging penetrates though the entire vehicle, minimizing blind spots and highlighting potential threats in color-coded images. The system can be installed into an existing traffic lane in just a few hours and can be operated at an unlimited distances from security personnel.
