Clinton Global Initiative Member Announces Online Community

NEW YORK–(September 23, 2008) As foreign leaders and global CEOs convene for the Clinton Global Initiative, members will be asked to make specific commitments to solving many of the world’s toughest challenges at the Sheraton New York September 23-26.

One global expert, William Loiry, president of Equity International, will be announcing his commitment to a clean future by launching the Clean Action Network – an online community dedicated to empowering its members to finding better and faster solutions for renewable energy.  Details of the new community are pending an announcement at the Annual Meeting for the Clinton Global Initiative on Tuesday, September 23, 2008.  “I am honored to be among the inaugural members of this initiative created by former President Bill Clinton, and I am dedicated to creating a community of world-changers who will impact our immediate future,” said Loiry.

The Clinton Global Initiative asks that its members make a significant and actionable commitment to world issues in order to receive their membership status and maintain their commitment to be invited back.  Loiry is committed to his global awareness and action program that will be furthered through the Clinton Global Initiative.

Established in 2005 as a project of the non-partisan William J. Clinton Foundation, the Clinton Global Initiative convenes global leaders to devise and implement innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges. Through past Annual Meetings, CGI has brought together more than 80 current and former heads of state, hundreds of top CEOs and non-profit leaders, major philanthropists and 10 of the last 16 Nobel Peace Prize laureates.

An upcoming summit hosted by Loiry, the Clean Action Summit, will incorporate many of his progressive ideas.

Equity International is a consulting company that has spent 15 years bringing together world leaders and heads of state to create policy changes.  Loiry’s first commitment to the Clinton Global Initiative came in 2005 by implementing a commitment to convene The Katrina Reconstruction Summit, bringing together leaders from governmental, business, and public service organizations to discuss early strategies for the economic reconstruction of the U.S. Gulf Coast in response to the devastation caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
