Republicans Ben Sasse (Neb.) and David Perdue (Ga.) join the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) for the 115th Congress.

Sasse’s addition gives Nebraska two members on the committee as Deb Fischer (R) is also on the panel. Fischer chaired the emerging threats and capabilities subcommittee while serving on the readiness and management support and strategic forces subcommittees. Nebraska is home to Offutt AFB, a key Defense Department installation that serves as the home to U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) and the 55th Wing. CAPITOL

Sasse and Perdue join Democratic newcomers Gary Peters (Mich.) and Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) on the committee. They replace Joe Manchin (W.Va.). Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) left the panel as she lost her re-election campaign to Maggie Hassan (D).

Subcommittee assignments could be released next week, according to committee spokesman Dustin Walker.
