This summer Raytheon [RTN] plans to open the Raytheon Public Safety Regional Technology Center (RTC) in Lost Angeles County, which will serve as the focus of its civil communications business in the western U.S., providing 24/7 customer support, training and maintenance and logistics support to customers. The 25,000 square foot facility will also allow for research and development work that involves communications experts from across academia, industry and the public safety community. Up to 150 people will work at the facility. The RTC essentially mirrors one that Raytheon has in Raleigh, N.C. to serve the eastern U.S. The two RTCs are basically centers of excellence for the public safety and first responder markets, Bill Iannacci, director of Civil Communications Solutions for Raytheon’s Network Centric Systems segment, tells TR2.
