The Air Force has awarded Northrop Grumman [NOC] a series of modernization and maintenance contracts for the A-10 Thunderbolt worth nearly $19 million, the company said yesterday.
The first calls on Northrop Grumman to identify risk factors and development maintenance strategies for selected A-10s and subsystems. It’s valued at $4.9 million.
The second arrangement, valued at $6.1 million, is focused on modernizing the structural integrity processes for the A-10 with other weapons systems. The third, $7.9 million agreement is for Northrop Grumman to investigate and accidents and incidents regarding the plane’s weapon system, and ensuring operational safety, suitability and effectiveness, the company said.
“Our team will assess, analyze and recommend cost-effective and practical solutions to reliability, maintainability and supportability issues the A-10 fleet currently faces,” Cindy Green, the company’s program manager for the lifecycle support program, said.
