Safran Group‘s MorphoTrak has introduced a new palm-sized biometric-enabled identity checking devices called MorphoIDent designed for law enforcement officers in the field. The five-ounce system can fit into a shirt pocket and features an optical fingerprint sensor with real-time automated quality check, and searches against an on-board watchlist or checks against local, state and federal automated fingerprint identification databases. “Customers told us they wanted an affordable cell phone-sized fingerprint ID device with an encrypted link to a smart-phone PDA, or laptop for matching against a central AFIS,” says Daniel Vassy, president and CEO of MorphoTrak. “Early customer feedback is very positive, tells us that MorphoTrak has come up with the right, cost-effective solution for their roadside identify verification needs.”
