Lumidigm says that Britain’s i-Evo is using its multispectral imaging sensors to produce a line of extremely versatile fingerprint readers that can be used both indoors and outdoors, including in harsh environments where most biometric readers won’t work. Lumidigm says the new readers read through snow, cold, water, dust, oil, creams and latex gloves. Lumidigm says that i-Evo has made the readers so that they integrate easily with existing card and fob systems. “Biometrics has proven time and time again to overcome all of the security issues found with card and fob systems,” says Shaun Oakes, managing director of i-Evo. “However, the cost of biometrics systems coupled with their reliability issues has, until now, curtailed profits and industry growth. Lumidigm’s multispectral imaging sensors eradicate these issues and provide us with a quick, simple and cost-effective solution for our integrators to promote to their users.”
