ICx Technologies [ICXT] says it has completed the initial portion of a field test involving multiple units of its Stride Series 200 radiation detection units at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The test monitored passengers and carry-on luggage for the presence of illicit radioactive material. The test was part of the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office’s International Commercial Aviation Passenger and Baggage pilot program. ICx says the units were installed in U.S. Customs counters along passenger and carry-on luggage pathways within international terminals to provide detection and identification of isotopes. “We are very pleased with the performance of our Stride systems deployed in an airport setting where large numbers of people are moving through the area,” says Barry Stanner, general manager of ICx Radiation.
