House Passes FY 2017 Omnibus Bill

The fiscal year 2017 omnibus appropriations bill, which includes $593 billion for defense, received House approval May 3.The legislation now heads to the Senate for its consideration later this week. House and Senate negotiators unveiled the compromise measure May 1 (Defense Daily, May 1, 2017).The defense portion contains $73.7 billion for research and development and $123.3 billion for equipment procurement, including 74 F-35s for the Air Force, Marines and Navy and 10 ships for the Navy.
