Huntington Ingalls Industries [HII] will present a variance of the U.S. Coast Guard’s National Security Cutter (NSC) at a symposium in Australia that gets underway today, hoping drum up business on the international market for patrol frigates.

The shipbuilder said there are two variants of the patrol frigate derivative aligned closely with the NSC hull, with one featuring added capabilities for anti-aircraft, anti-submarine, and anti-surface and mine-warfare.

The designs will be exhibited at the Pacific 2012 International Maritime and Naval Exposition in Sydney. HII said it would build the vessels at its Ingalls facility in Pascagoula, Miss.

The Coast Guard intends to buy eight National Security Cutters. Three have been delivered and two more are under construction.
