HID Global says its LaserCard business has received an $8.6 million order for optical security media cards to be issued under the Department of Homeland Security’s U.S. Permanent Resident Green Card program with deliveries slated to be completed by Aug. 2011. The Green Card is the first in the world with optical security media for visual and data security and an RFID to accelerate border crossings. HID Global, which recently acquired LaserCard, is part of the Swedish access control company ASSA ABLOY. HID also recently acquired the logical access control firm ActivIDentity.
