General Dynamics [GD] UK yesterday said it reorganized the business toward future growth, and appointed Steve Rowbotham as chief operating officer.

General Dynamics will continue to have two primary lines of business in the United Kingdom, a C4 business for military, public safety and security opportunities and a Land Vehicles business, which is currently delivering the Specialist Vehicle program to the U.K. Ministry of Defense.

The company has created C4 Systems International, which brings the United Kingdom C4 business working more closely with its General Dynamics C4 Systems sister companies.

U.K. land vehicle activity is being aligned with General Dynamics Land Systems, an approach to bring closer cooperating between the businesses to the benefit of all its customers.

As COO, Rowbotham will oversee the combined activities of GD in the United Kingdom. He joined GD UK in 2006 to form the Advanced Projects & Technologies group.

Upon his appointment, Rowbotham said, “The United Kingdom is a priority market for General Dynamics. We will continue to operate from the U.K. with the same footprint as we have today to support our U.K. customers. We will also continue to use our U.K. business as a base from which we can export capability in partnership with the U.K. government.”

As part of the reorganization, General Dynamics UK expanded its board of directors. General Dynamics C4 Systems President Chris Marzilli and Gary Whited, president of General Dynamics Land Systems, have been added. Chaired by Lord Peter Levene, the board includes Sir Andrew Cahn and Sandy Wilson, who retired earlier this year from his role as president and managing director.
