The Financial Services Roundtable (FSR) hired NSA executive Murray Kenyon and former National Governors Association (NGA) official Heather Hogsett to join FSR BITS, the technology policy division, the organization said Friday.

Kenyon formerly served at the NSA for over 32 years, culminating in a position with the Senior Executive Service in his final 10 years. His work included whole of government national security initiatives with the Department of Homeland Security to educate critical infrastructure executives on cyber threat and mitigation strategies as well as being agency lead for financial sector information sharing, exercises, and cybersecurity assistance, FSR said.

Hogsett recently served as staff director for federal relations at the National Governors Association where she oversaw the organization’s federal legislative agenda and activities on cybersecurity, homeland security, emergency management, and veterans’ affairs, the roundtable noted.

“Hogsett helped establish and direct the Council of Governors–a presidentially-appointed council bringing together 10 governors with the Secretaries of Defense and Homeland Security, as well as senior White House officials–which has established an unprecedented level of cooperation between state and federal military forces,” FSR said in a statement. This work included working with governors and federal officials to improve federal-state coordination on cybersecurity.

“Cybersecurity and technology are critical issues to the financial services industry, and FSR is proud to be the industry’s leading voice in Washington on these issues. The addition of Murray and Heather, as well as the new leadership of BITS President Chris Feeney, showcases our continued dedication to these issues and the important work performed by FSR’s BITS division,” Tim Pawlenty, former governor of Minnesota and current FSR president & CEO, said in a statement.

FSR is a financial services advocacy organization, representing large integrated financial services companies providing banking, insurance, payment, and investment products.
