Fidelis Cybersecurity opened new offices at Port San Antonio for about two dozen experts to support customers in the south Texas region and greater U.S., the company said Monday.
Port San Antonio, home to over 1,000 IT security professionals, is a locally-managed public entity created to redevelop the 1,900 acre site of the former Kelly AFB, which closed in 2001. It seeks to leverage the large air, rail, and truck-served platform to grow industries and create jobs in the San Antonio area, the organization said.
“We welcome Fidelis with open arms and a sharp focus on supporting their growth opportunities. We believe that our flexible location, in-house expertise and strong community partners will provide Fidelis with a solid foundation for great success in the years ahead,” Port President and CEO Roland Mower said in a statement.
“The Port provides a convenient location, modern infrastructure and opportunities to leverage local workforce and training resources. We are excited about partnering with Port San Antonio as we expand our business presence in the region,” Robert Browning, Fidelis Cybersecurity vice president of operations, added.
Fidelis joins several other cybersecurity companies on the port campus including IPSecure and Radiance Technologies.
Previously, in 2012, the 24th Air Force, the service’s component of U.S. Cyber Command, placed its headquarters at Port San Antonio’s Building 171.
“The arrival of an industry leader like Fidelis Cybersecurity underscores the Port’s commitment to serving as a large and strategic center for one of the world’s fastest-growing industries,” Rey Saldaña, San Antonio City Councilman whose district 4 includes much of the campus, said in a statement.
Fidelis Cybersecurirty, with over 200 employees, was founded in 2002 and works with companies across the energy, financial services, aerospace, federal agencies and manufacturing industries. Last year it became a standalone company when it was sold from General Dynamics [GD] to Marlin Equity Partners, a global investment firm (Defense Daily, May 5, 2015). It shortly thereafter acquired endpoint detection and response solutions firm Resolution1 Security (Defense Daily, May 12, 2015).
