OSI Systems [OSIS] has received a potential $12 million in contracts from the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) under the Exploratory Research Program. The initial combined value of the contracts is $2 million. OSI says that all of the work will focus on detecting shielded nuclear material. Specifically, OSI’s Rapiscan Systems division working with Yale Univ. will develop a liquefied noble gas detector. Rapiscan scientists will also develop a threshold activation detector, a human portable system and aircraft inspection solutions. “These contracts require the unique combination of our team’s experience in high-energy X-Ray imaging, and nuclear, mechanical and electrical engineering,” says Ajay Mehra, president of Rapiscan.
