Battelle Memorial Institute, Columbus, Ohio, was awarded a $49,102,007 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for research and development of Microelectronics and Embedded System Assurance. This contract provides for operational system development as well as advanced and applied research and development to evaluate current and future state-of-the-art microelectronics security technology, integrity in microelectronics and embedded systems against current and emerging nation-state adversaries working to exploit the chip-package interaction using non-invasive, semi-invasive, and invasive reverse engineering techniques. Work will be performed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and Columbus, Ohio, and is expected to be completed by March 22, 2028. This contract was a competitive acquisition and two offers were received. Fiscal 2022, research and development funds in the amount of $350,000 are being obligated at time of award. The Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, is the contracting activity (FA8650-23-C-1000).
