TSA Awards Potential $98M in IT Contracts

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has awarded Wildflower International and NCS Technologies contracts valued at up to $85 million and $13 million respectively under the Desktop Refresh program. New Mexico-based Wildflower will provide products in the Laptop and Peripheral Product categories. Virginia-based NCS will provide products in the Ruggedized Laptops, Desktops, PC Tablets, and accessories categories. The scope of both awards includes warranty support, asset tagging and imaging.

AS&E Nabs Orders in Africa, Eastern Europe and Latin America

American Science and Engineering [ASEI] has received several international orders that combined are in the multi-million dollar range although the company did not disclose exact values. One multi-million dollar order is to provide a Z Portal cargo and vehicle inspection system, a SmartCheck HT (High Throughout) whole body imager, and Gemini parcel inspection systems to protect a critical government facility in an Eastern European capital city. “With threat levels increasing around the world, our client is seeking an effective solution to safeguard their high-threat facility and heighten their detection capability at multiple checkpoints,” say Anthony Fabiano, AS&E’s president and CEO. Another order is from an African country to provide three Z Backscatter Vans (ZBV) for two different government agencies for law enforcement and national security purposes. “This order signals the expanded market penetration of Z Backscatter technology in Africa,” Fabiano says. The company also received orders for seven ZBV systems for customers in Latin America to be used for law enforcement and checkpoint security applications.

 

CDC Awards Emergent BioSolutions Potential $1.3B for Anthrax Countermeasure

Emergent BioSolutions [EBS] has received a five-year, $1.3 billion award from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) to supply the U.S. government with 44.8 million doses of BioThrax anthrax vaccine, the only vaccine licensed by the Food and Drug Administration to protect against anthrax infection. Emergent says that the new award includes “substantial price concessions.” Initial deliveries of BioThrax under the contract will begin this year with 8.5 million doses during the first year.

TSA Awards Trinity Technology $21M for Private Screening Program

Trinity Technology Group has received a potential $20.9 million contract from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to provide privatized screening at two airports. Trinity will receive just over $3 million in the first year of the contract, which includes four one-year options. The contract covers passenger and baggage screening services at Sioux Falls Regional Airport in South Dakota, where Covenant Aviation Security is the incumbent screening contractor, and Charles Schulz-Sonoma County Airport in California, where Trinity is the incumbent. Trinity also provides private screening services to an airport in Tupelo, Miss., and seven airports in Montana under contract to the TSA through the Screening Partnership Program.

OSI Systems Nabs $3M Mid East Airport Contract for Inspection Systems

OSI Systems [OSIS] says its Rapiscan Systems division has received a contract worth about $3 million to supply baggage, parcel and checkpoint inspection systems to an international airport in the Middle East. The order includes the company’s new Real Time Tomography (RTT) Explosives Detection System that can scan up to 1,500 checked bags per hour. The company is attempting to have the RTT system certified by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration to screen checked bags for explosives.

CACI Nabs Nearly $21M for TSA Safety and Health Support Services

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has awarded CACI International [CACI] a potential five-year, $20.5 million contract to provide on-site resources and technical expertise for agency field offices in the U.S. in support of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) program. Services include formal safety and health inspections of all TSA work places to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions, new and existing technology and equipment reviews, tests, and analyses for potential radiation, chemical or biological health exposure to agency employees, baseline and ongoing job hazard analyses, investigating and tracking corrective actions resulting from employee notices of unsafe or unhealthful working conditions, and more.

Coast Guard Awards Metal Shark $13M for First RB-S Boats

The Coast Guard has awarded Metal Shark Aluminum Boats a $13 million delivery order to produce 38 Response Boats-Small (RB-S), selecting the Louisiana-based firm over Washington-based SAFE Boats International in a competition to supply up to 500 of the 28-foot boats. The RB-S will be capable of at least 40 knots, have a minimum range of 150 nautical miles and accommodate a crew of four. The vessels will be used throughout the Coast Guard for port and waterway security, search and rescue, drug and migrant interdiction, environmental and other law enforcement missions. The Coast Guard will procure up to 470 boats, Customs and Border Protection 20 and the Navy 10.

DHS Awards Potential $5M to BRMi for Enterprise Architecture Governance

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded Battle Resource Management, Inc. (BRMi) a potential $5.4 million contract to manage the enterprise architecture governance process, which ensures DHS programs and projects comply with its enterprise architecture standards. The DHS Enterprise Architecture program establishes standards for information technology products and services and standardization helps reduce costs, promote interoperable communications, and minimizes duplication of services. The award has a $1.7 million base year value and two one-year options worth $1.8 million and $1.9 million respectively.

GP Gets $3M Tennessee Contract for Homeland Security Exercise Effort

The Tennessee Department of Safety, Office of Homeland Security, has awarded General Physics Corp. a $2.9 million contract to implement the Comprehensive Homeland Security Exercise Program. Under the contract, GP, which is a subsidiary of GP Strategies Corp. [GPX] will research, plan, develop, facilitate and conduct a series of seminars, workshops, tabletop exercises, drills, and functional and full-scale exercises for state and local jurisdictions as defined by the Department of Homeland Security Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program guidelines. The contract calls for conducting 59 exercises across Tennessee’s 11 Homeland Security Districts over the next 27 months.

Intellicheck Mobilisa gets $2M in Contracts

Intellicheck Mobilisa [IDN] says its Government Identity Group has received multiple contracts totaling more than $2 million for its identification systems, Fugitive Finder and Defense ID. The awards bring the total number of bases using the company’s identification systems to about 100. The systems conduct “bad guy” checks by scanning and comparing information contained in and ID card to over 100 databases, including the National Criminal Investigative Center. Intellicheck Mobilisa says the recent quarter was the strongest ever for signed contracts of its government identification systems.

CGI gets Small DHS Award to Move Public Websites to the Cloud

CGI Federal Inc. has received a three-year, $1.8 million order from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to deliver a cloud solution for DHS public facing websites, including DHS.gov, FEMA.gov, and USCIS.gov, among other websites. The DHS-Wide Public Cloud Web Content Management Services contract is the first award under the General Services potential $76 million Infrastructure as a Service Blanket Purchase Agreement. CGI will provide three integrated environments that encompass the full application development and deployment life-cycle from enterprise development and integration to testing, training, staging, troubleshooting and production. “DHS’ move to the cloud is being watched closely as it’s one of the largest agencies to put the ‘cloud-first’ policy into practice,” says Eric Wolking, senior vice president, CGI. CGI Federal is the U.S. division of Canada’s CGI Group [GIB].

Kratos to Provide Network Management to Defense, Intel Customers

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions [KTOS] has received orders worth $1.1 million in total from four government agencies for its NeuralStar network management and situational awareness software product. Kratos says the customers, all of which are involved in defense and intelligence operations, are not being disclosed due to customer-related and other sensitivities. NeuralStar monitors, aggregates and integrates mission critical network availability, cyber security and compliance management data from heterogeneous technologies to create flexible, dynamic dashboards for enhanced management and situational awareness. This allows NeuralStar to provide a common operational picture for all levels of command across large distributed network and field operations, especially those that rely upon a variety of communications, information and security technologies.
