DISA Awards Northrop Grumman $189 Million to Implement HBSS

Northrop Grumman [NOC] has received a potential five-year, $189 million task order from the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) to provide an endpoint cyber security system for various Defense Department and intelligence community customers.

Northrop Grumman and its teammates, which include Intel Corp.’s [INTC] McAfee subsidiary and CDW Corp., will implement the Host Based Security System (HBSS) to provide security on desktop and laptop computers, defending up to 5 million end points. Northrop Grumman will provide architecture, engineering, maintenance, and deployment and implementation support of the HBSS solution to customers such as combatant commanders, the military services, various field activities and agencies, and networks and host platforms within the intelligence community. Initial work will be performed at Fort Meade, Md. Northrop Grumman won the task order under the Encore 2 contract vehicle. The task order has a three-year base period and two one-year options. Northrop Grumman has been working with the HBSS since 2008 having recently completed the deployment of version 3.0 across 263 active duty Air Force bases and Air National Guard. McAfee, which is the primary subcontractor, provides its scalable ePolicy Orchestrator platform and Host Intrusion Prevention Systems to support the HBSS solution.

SAIC Nabs Initial $21M Reduced Size EDS Order from TSA

Science Applications International Corp. [SAI] has received a $20.9 million task order from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to supply 50 of its Reduced Size Explosive Detection Systems used for screening checked bags at some of the nation’s airports. The order was placed under a recent five-year, indefinite delivery, indefinite-quantity contract TSA awarded SAIC that is worth up to $110.2 million (TR2, Feb. 15). Separately, TSA awarded L-3 Communications [LLL] a $3.3 million task order for three of the company’s Reduced Size EDS systems, satisfying the minimum order guarantee under the agency’s recent ID/IQ contract with L-3 that is potentially worth $169.1 million. Safran’s Morpho Detection business is currently in the testing process with TSA to have its Reduced Size EDS certified.

ICE Awards ATK Contract for Ammunition

ATK [ATK] has received a potential five-year, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract to supply up to 450 million .40 caliber ammunition rounds to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). ATK was the incumbent supplier and won the recompetition with its HST hollow point bullet. The ammunition will be produced at the Federal Cartridge Company facility in Anoka, Minn., with deliveries slated to begin in June. The contract has a base-year and four one-year options.

Army Awards Battelle Contract to Produce Chemical Sampling Units

Battelle has received a $5.7 million contract from the Army to manufacture 140 Chemical Vapor Sampling Systems for use on the Stryker Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Reconnaissance Vehicle. The order also includes the manufacture of 840 Training Sample Canisters and 20 Training Support Packages. Battelle has been producing the Chemical Vapor Sampling Systems since 2008 and has manufactured 240 systems to date. Initial deliveries of the new systems will begin by Jan. 2013.

Smiths Detection gets Malaysian Airport Scanner Contracts

Smiths Detection says it has received contracts to supply explosives detection equipment to two major airports in Malaysia. The company will supply HI-SCAN 10080 EDtS automated explosive detection system for hold baggage screening of checked baggage, the HI-SCAN 10010t-2is dual-view X-Ray system for inspecting oversize bags, and the IONSCAN 500DT explosive and narcotics trace detector to Penang International Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport Low Cost Carrier Terminal 2. The equipment will be delivered within the next year. The purchase includes aftermarket support and was made by Malaysian Airports Holdings. Wafada Consult Technic is Smiths Detection’s local distributor for the deal.

AtHoc Alert System Selected by Jacksonville Port Authority

The Jacksonville Port Authority in Florida has selected AtHoc, Inc.’s IWSAlerts enterprise system to meet its emergency communications and notifications requirements. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. AtHoc says its network and telephony alerting capabilities will integrate with social networks, giant voice and outdoor public address systems, and digital signage to speed emergency notifications across the port. “Recent deployment by the U.S. Coast Guard across 50 USCG ports and by the Transportation Security Administration at 45 airports nationwide is making AtHoc a standard for emergency mass notification, personnel accountability, and situational awareness to protect both public and private concerns,” says James Hickey, director of Operations, Marines, Intel, Guard at AtHoc.

Air Force Awards GD $5M for Cyber Intel Support

General Dynamics [GD] has received a potential three-year, $5 million contract to continue its cyber network defense, operations and exploitation support of the Air Force’s 35th Intelligence Squadron Cyberspace Operations program Sensor Shadow. GD has been providing support to the Sensor Shadow program since Operation Desert Storm in the early 1990s. Under the contract analysts and engineers with GD’s Advanced Information Systems business help to collect, analyze, produce and disseminate vital cyber intelligence to ensure that war fighters maintain information dominance in the cyber domain. This includes supporting U.S. Cyber Command and other DoD customers. The Sensor Shadow program team conducts in-depth analysis of network intrusions, threat profiling, all-source intelligence analysis and long-term analysis of stored network connection data and supports across the world. The work is performed at Lackland AFB, Texas.

Kratos Nabs $3M in Contracts for Critical Infrastructure Protection

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions [KTOS] says its Public Safety & Security business has received three contracts worth a combined $3 million to provide video, surveillance, security and building automation system deployments. The company will design, engineer, install, integrate and maintain the specialized security and building automation systems at three distinct critical infrastructure locations. The customers were not disclosed.

XTec Gets Award to Supply Federal Judiciary with PIV-I Credentials

XTec Inc. has been awarded a five-year blanket purchase agreement from the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts for PIV-Interoperable credentials, marking the first wide-scale deployment of PIV-I credentials. The PIV-I facility access cards will be usable for both physical and logical access. XTec will also host its AuthentX Identity Management System, a cloud solution, for the courts and provide enrollment stations, training and support to enable court facilities nationwide to issue and manage the PIV-I facility access cards.
