ChemImage Corp. says it received a $17.2 million contract from the Army Space & Missile Defense Command to implement its real-time sensor technology that will be used in the field to detect explosive threats. ChemImage is partnered with General Dynamics on the technology (See Chemring story in this issue). “This is a landmark event for our company,” says Patrick Treado, founder and chief technology officer at ChemImage. The contract was awarded last December and work, including delivery of five LightGuard systems and two additional sensors plus early user tests in-theater, is expected to be completed this December. ChemImage, which is based in Pittsburgh, Pa., develops hyperspectral imaging-based products for use in threat detection, pharmaceutical, forensics and anatomic pathology applications.
