CBP Seeks High Tech Help on Counting and Measuring at Airports
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued a solicitation seeking a way to capture passenger queue lengths and wait times at each step of the international arrivals process in the air environment, with lane level fidelity. The agency issued the call as an Other Transaction Solicitation under the Department of Homeland Security Science & Technology Directorate’s Silicon Valley Innovation Program, which seeks to quickly get awardees under contract. CBP says that more than 112 million international travelers entered the U.S. in FY ’15 and more than 119 million in FY ’16, adding that the growth requires it to innovate in order to facilitate the entry of international visitors, increase tourism and foster economic growth while maintaining high levels of security. CBP currently doesn’t have a way to capture passenger queue lengths and wait times. DHS will host an Industry Day on Nov. 14 at SRI Internationals SRI Innovation Center in California to discuss the call. Sol. No. 70RSAT18R0000001.
