Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is seeking information on commercially available or near commercially available crane spreader mounted radiation and nuclear detection technology to determine commercial interest in participating in a government led evaluation. The systems would be used to detect nuclear and radiological materials within containerized cargo as it is being transferred from ship to shore. The test phases would consist of a review of a vendor’s submittal information, limited operational testing, and follow-on testing at a national laboratory. The crane-mounted sensor effort is being funded at the behest of Congress in the FY ’08 Omnibus Appropriations Act, which directed CBP to perform the work. The Domestic Nuclear Detection Office is working with CBP on the project. Sol. No. HSBPRFI021508. Respond by March 14. Contact: Dean Titcomb, contract specialist, 202-393-8441, [email protected].
