DHS Issues RFP for Design of Test Standards Services for Airport Checkpoints

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the design, development and fabrication of advanced test standards that simulate the stream-of-commerce accompanying passengers through airport screening checkpoints. The test standards will be used to measure false and/or nuisance alarm rates coincident with target detection rates in the laboratory as part of a certification or qualification type test program. FBI Seeks Operational Support for Terrorist Screening Center

The FBI has issued a Request for Proposal for a potential five-year contract to provide labor hour operational support to the Terrorist Screening Center, a multi-agency center that operates 24/7. The TSA seeks about 116 full-time employees, most of which will provide analysis, database management, center operation services, and program management, with a small requirement for operational training and facility support. NIST Issues Funding Opportunity for NSTIC Pilots

The National Institute of Standards and Technology has announced a new Federal Funding Opportunity for pilot projects in 2014 under the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace (NSTIC). The new opportunity kicks off the third round of pilots under the public-private partnership designed to help spur innovation to make online transactions more secure, private and convenient. The FY ’14 awards are not expected to exceed $6 million. NIST will host an Applicants’ Conference on Jan. 31 to discuss the new opportunity. DHS S&T Issues RFI for Bio-Detection

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to conduct technology foraging for applications for detection of biological materials. The DHS Office of Health Affairs has reached out to S&T for help with technology foraging related to the use of canines for bio-threat detection. S&T seeks to collate into one document as many sources of information on the following topics: past and current research and development efforts or commercial-off-the-shelf products in the area of “electronic noses” to detect threat; past and current efforts focused on using canines as potential detection solutions; canine training services; and canine maintenance requirements. DHS Plans Small Business Vendor Outreach Session for February

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization will host a Vendor Outreach Session in Washington, D.C. on Feb. 20. The sessions are a series of pre-arranged 15-minute appointments with Small Business Specialists from various components of the DHS procurement offices. The Defense Forensics and Biometrics Agency (DFBA) is conducting a market survey to identify potential sources that may have the expertise, capabilities and experience to provide services and products required to synchronize and integrate existing and new forensics and biometrics technologies throughout the Defense Department.
