Secret Service Plans Solicitation for Presidential Inauguration Perimeter Security
The Secret Service has issued a pre-solicitation notice for perimeter security services in support of the 2013 Presidential Inauguration. The winning contractor will provide all equipment rental and coordination/management services in support of the Inauguration, which is a National Special Security Event. DHS S&T Issues RFI for Next-Gen Personal Protective Equipment
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to help it prepare a strategic plan for the development of next-generation personal protective equipment (PPE) for first responders. The intent of the program is to develop goals for the development of an integrated PPE ensemble that provides multiple threat protection, increases the safety of first responders, and reduces the amount of equipment responders will be required to carry. The S&T First Responders Group is interested in responses from industry, academic institutions, research facility, trade and professional groups, standards development organizations and other government agencies. DHS Issues Draft RFP for Handheld Radiation Detection Systems

DHS Plans Enterprise-wide Strategic Sourcing Contract for Uniforms
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) as part of plans to establish a department-wide indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract vehicle for the purchase of uniforms. Customs and Border Protection is the DHS executive agent for the acquisition. DHS says it has about 120,000 employees that are authorized to participate in the National Uniform Program.
