ICE Soliciting Small Businesses for Rapid DNA Testing Contract

Immigration and Customs Enforcement has issued a solicitation to help implement a Rapid DNA testing program to aid in the identification of fraudulent familial relationship claims made by individuals entering or attempting to enter the U.S. The solicitation says that since early 2018 the Department of Homeland Security noticed an increase in fraudulent family relationship claims. ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations branch, in partnership with Enforcement and Removal Operations, conducted two evaluations, Operation Double Helix and subsequently, Operation Double Helix 2.0, that used Rapid DNA technology to identify fraudulently claimed familial relationships. HIS has identified 11 locations on the southwest border where the influx if illegal aliens is prevalent and plans to deploy Rapid DNA technology to these areas.
