Trinity Technology Group has received a potential six-month, $1.5 million extension from the Transportation Security Administration to an existing contract to provide private security screeners for Sioux Falls Regional Airport in South Dakota. Trinity is providing passenger and checked baggage screening services under the Screening Partnership Program. The extension runs from Jan. 1, 2017 through potentially June 30, 2017. TSA is currently in the source selection process for a competitive new award for the screening services at Sioux Falls.
A second draft Request for Proposal issued by the Department of Homeland Security in late October for the Homeland Advanced Recognition Technology (HART) biometric storing and matching database suggests that in the first increment the biometric matching subsystems that are part of the aging IDENT database will be retained for HART. These include the 3M [MMM] Cogent 10-print, 2-print and latent print matchers and the NEC Corp. face and iris matchers.
Sandia National Laboratories says it has a Radiological Assistance Program team that provides radiological detection support for large public events, such as the Super Bowl, around the U.S. The team includes members from other Energy Department national labs in nine U.S. regions and team members are also first responders for large and small accidents involving radiological material around the Southwest U.S. and train other first responders domestically and abroad. The team uses hand-held radiation detectors and vehicle-mounted detectors.
