BAE Systems‘ Land & Armaments unit yesterday said additional changes are coming in the organization, to “increase competitiveness in a challenging market.”

BAE Systems will consolidate Global Tactical Systems and U.S. Combat Systems into four new business product lines:

  • Combat Vehicles, which will be headed by Joe McCarthy,
  • Tactical Wheeled Vehicles, which will be headed by Chris Chambers,
  • Weapon Systems, which will be headed by Mark Signorelli, and
  • Amphibious & New Programs, which will be headed by Ann Hoholick.

Bob Murphy is the executive vice president, Product Sectors at BAE Systems Inc., the U.S.-based segment of U.K.-based BAE Systems plc. Frank Pope is president of the Land & Armaments Sector.

The new product lines reflect an even tighter focus to improve such things as efficiency, effectiveness, cost reduction and improved responsiveness to the customer needs of affordability and performance, the company said in a statement.

A several-months-long review of global markets and customer needs led to the initial reorganization in July 2010 (Defense Daily, June 16, 2010). The reorganization is moving to a sector organization geared to the evolving land business.

The Global Combat Systems and Individual Protection Systems business areas are largely unaffected by these changes and will continue to operate as before, the statement said.

The realignment will be achieved by a phased implementation and be completely effective July 1.
