The Army Research Laboratory (ARL) is soliciting proposals describing innovative radio frequency (RF) technology solutions to detect and locate improvised explosive device (IED) threats. For Phase 1, ARL is seeking prototype, technically mature, RF technology to participate in an experiment in a relevant environment. By technically mature the technology must be either capable of performing on the move (at least 8 mph) or have size, weight and power characteristics that would allow it to operate as a handheld unit. The detection and location range is 10 meters for moving systems and 1 meter for handheld units. Sol. No. W911NF-08-R-0009. Respond by Aug. 29.
