The Army is looking for industry interest in providing a simulation capability for UH-72A Lakota Synthetic Flight Training System (SFTS) and supplemental training aides, devices, simulators and simulations (TADSS) and Hardware Maintenance Trainers (HMT).

The UH-72A is produced by Airbus Group, formerly the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Co. By Aug. 29, The Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI) wants capability statements from industry to allow the office to validate cost and schedule projections to satisfy this requirement.
The estimated dollar value of the acquisition is yet to be determined. Additionally, the acquisition strategy for SFTS is being developed and the government expects the SFTS and HMT requirements–currently two SFTS and two HMT–would be filled by full and open competition or by a delivery order under an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract. An award is expected on a best value/tradeoff basis. The contract type has not been determined.
The UH-72A SFTS supports institutional, organizational and sustainment training for active and reserve aviation units worldwide. It provides a unique training capability to help commanders achieve and sustain unit proficiency and readiness, the RFI said. It provides the capability for aviation units to train and sustain the performance of selected critical tasks and will allow UH-72A qualified aviators to maintain proficiency in high risk tasks, emergency procedures and extreme environmental conditions.
The SFTS must be capable of system growth for potential integration and functional simulation of Mission Equipment Packages.
The two UH-72A HMTs are required to support enlisted helicopter repairer qualification training with an estimated enduring throughput training requirement of 40 students annually. The HMT must allow students to remove, replace, troubleshoot, and fix aircraft systems and components. Each HMT will require initial spare and repair parts, bench stock hardware, basic and special tools, and custom maintenance stands as required to support proposed solutions.
