American Science and Engineering [ASEI] has received a $6.7 million order from the Army for multiple Z Backscatter Van (ZBV) Military Trailers as part of a potential $48.8 million contract the company received in April (TR2, April 28). The Army initially awarded AS&E a $34 million order against the contract. The contract option brings the total funded amount to $40.7 million. The ZBV Mil Trailer is a ruggedized version of the company’s ZBV system and is used for screening vehicles for bombs. Separately, AS&E received a follow-on order from the NATO C3 Agency for a multi-view Z Portal X-Ray screening system for use at a strategic security checkpoint. The company has received several orders from the agency over the past two years for its cargo and vehicle inspection system (TR2, April 14 and June 11, 2008).
