The Army reevaluated the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) contract to Oshkosh Corp. [OSK], as the Government Accountability Office (GAO) recommended, and awarded a new contract to Oshkosh.
“Oshkosh Corporation has been awarded a competitive, five-year requirements contract for production of up to 12,415 trucks, 10,926 trailers, and associated support and engineering services,” the service said in a statement. The total estimated contract value at award was $3.023 billion.
The Army originally awarded the contract on Aug. 26 to Oshkosh. BAE Systems, Tactical Vehicles LP, the incumbent, and Navistar, LLC filed GAO protests against the contract award to Oshkosh.
In December, GAO ruled in favor of protests by BAE and Navistar Defense of the Army’s award to Oshkosh.
FMTV consists of up to 23 variants and 17 different models.
GAO said the Army award was flawed, and recommended a reevaluation of proposals in specific areas (Defense Daily, Dec. 15).
