The Air Force Research Laboratory, Rome Research Site, has issued a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) for proactive cyber space defensive capabilities for anticipating and avoiding threats through understanding the cyber situation, predicting adversarial actions, assessing potential impacts, and for implementing deterrence and effects-based defensive methodologies. It also supports work to detect and defeat threats and protect information systems by engagement and influence through defensive mechanisms employing such methods as adversary denial and deception. Specific focus areas are: cyber agility; polymorphic enclaves; polymorphic machines; incorruptible data codes/executables; assured execution; fight through and survive with mission assurance; self-regenerative incorruptible enterprise that dynamically recovers with immunity; and cyber mission assurance. The Air Force has $49 million for the BAA between FY ’11 and FY ’15. Awards will typically be for no longer than three years and be for between $100,000 and $1 million annually. Sol.
