The Air Force awarded Battlespace Flight Services LLC a $950 million contract for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) organizational-level maintenance support, according to a Nov. 13 Defense Department statement.
The contract is an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract, which will support Air Combat Command (ACC), the Air National Guard and other major command and combatant command customers to sustain the combat and training capability at tasked locations worldwide. Work is expected to be completed by March 31, 2014.
ACC spokeswoman Kelly Sanders said in an email the contract provides organizational-level, or flightline, support for the MQ-1 Predator and MQ-9 Reaper UAVs. This support includes on-equipment maintenance for the aircraft, ground control station and support equipment as well as communications and related communications site/system support.
Sanders said the ID/IQ contract combines MQ-1 Predator and MQ-9 Reaper organizational-level maintenance services in one contract as they were previously separate contracts. Sanders said Battlespace Flight Services will perform work at Creech AFB, Nev., and other locations worldwide as required to meet operational mission requirements. Sanders said she couldn’t go into specific work locations.
