CBP Deploys Biometric Exit System to Miami International Airport

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has deployed facial recognition biometric exit technology to Miami International Airport for a select international flight departing from the airport, making it the eighth airport in the agency’s biometric exit evaluation program. “With the expansion of this technology, we will be looking at different lights, airports, lighting conditions, and internal IT configurations to demonstrate to our stakeholders that this solution is flexible, reliable and easy for travelers to use.” As part of the ongoing biometric exit evaluations, Delta Airlines is working with CBP to integrate facial recognition technology into electronic gates at John F. Kennedy and Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airports, and JetBlue is working with the agency to test facial recognition technology at Boston Logan International Airport to allow passengers to self-board without scanning a boarding pass.
