Sotera Defense Solutions on Wednesday said it has sold a small business division that makes field kitchens and sanitary equipment for the U.S. military to Outdoor Venture Corp., allowing it to focus on providing technology solutions to its national security customers.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Sotera said its Maryland-based Engineered Solutions division is a small portion of its overall business.

“This transaction allows Sotera to become a leading pure play national security technology solutions provider focused on accelerating its growth in our customers’ critical national security, intelligence and law enforcement missions,” Deb Alderson, chairman and CEO of Sotera, said in a statement. “Sotera’s strong recent business momentum is being driven by our long-term success in delivering superior solutions to our customers, which we have seen through a number of recent large prime contract wins.”

Sotera, which is based in Northern Virginia, has solutions capabilities in systems engineering, software development and engineering, information technology architecture, all source analysis, intelligence analysis and operations, mobile platform integration, and enterprise data systems. The company provides services in the areas of cyber security, mission information technology, data analytics, and mission systems.

Kentucky-based Outdoor Venture Corporation provides military tent systems, components and accessories to the Defense Department. J.C. Egnew, the company’s president, said in a statement that the acquisition will “enhance or ability or provide offerings, services and components” to the Defense Department.
