The United Kingdom’s Home Office awarded Raytheon [RTN] an additional $179 million under the e-Borders program for extended functionality and services. The extended functionality and services relates to other passenger information carrier data normally held in reservation and departure control systems and provides an extended capability for the e-Borders system, allowing for the processing of additional information relating to passengers and crew traveling to and from the U.K., a Raytheon spokesman tells TR2. This will allow border staff to better screen passengers for potential security threats while at the same time providing more efficient processing of regular passengers, he adds. Raytheon was selected to implement e-Borders last November. Raytheon says the newest contract installment raises the value of the program for it to over $1.4 billion.
