Israel’s Plasan said last week that it has acquired a controlling interest in Virginia-based Artis, LLC, a contract research and development firm that develops and produces an armored vehicle protection solution that tracks and defeats incoming rounds.

The Iron Curtain Active Protection System is new technology for Plasan’s portfolio of combat-proven passive protection solutions for combat vehicles. Plasan says the acquisition enables it to provide its clients with a comprehensive protection solution based on its integration capabilities.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Plasan said incorporating Artis’ design and engineering skills into its United States-based subsidiary, Plasan North America, will open new market opportunities and enhance Plasan’s ability to support its customer’s needs.

In the United States, Plasan already has a joint venture with TPI Composites called Armored Chariots, LLC, to produce next-generation crew components for U.S. military vehicles.
