Lockheed Martin [LMT] yesterday announced several leadership appointments, including naming Marillyn Hewson, currently president, Systems Integration- Owego, to be executive vice president of the Electronic Systems business area.

Hewson, 55, succeeds Christopher Kubasik, who was recently appointed president and chief operating officer of Lockheed Martin.

The company also said that it is realigning its Electronic Systems business to better match it with its customers and capabilities. Beginning next year, the ground vehicle line of business, which includes the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle program, will be realigned from Systems Integration-Owego to Missiles and Fire Control and the rest of Owego’s business will be put under Missile Systems and Sensors (MS2).

A transition team is currently reviewing the business base at the Owego, N.Y., facility to determine how it will shake out for the facility and employees, a Lockheed Martin spokeswoman told Defense Daily. The Owego operations have lost nearly 1,000 jobs since the beginning of this year due to cancellations of the Navy’s VH-71 helicopter program and the competition for the Air Force CSAR-X search and rescue platform.

Lockheed Martin also appointed William Graham, 59, to be deputy to Linda Gooden, executive vice president, Information Systems & Global Services. Graham’s position is new and he will focus on the daily operations of the business area while Gooden focuses more on business performance and customer satisfaction, the spokeswoman said.

The company also said that Orlando Carvalho, 51, will become president of MS2, succeeding Fred Moosally, who previously announced his retirement. Carvalho is currently vice president and general manager of MS2’s operations in Moorestown, N.J.

John Lucas, 49, will become senior vice president of Human Resources, replacing Kenneth Disken, who is retiring. Lucas joined the company earlier this year from Microsoft [MSFT].
